Biography:

Dr. Francis Ohanyido is a seasoned project manager, Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH) UK and Fellow of the Royal Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) UK. He was also awarded Chartered Professional Manager of the Nigerian Institute of Management with the rank of Associate Member (AMNIM), and is currently a member of the Knowledge Management Institute (KMI) USA. A past Advisor to Senate Committee on Health ,Nigeria and Special Advisor to the Nigerian Medical Association, he has had international experience spanning UNHCR, UNICEF, WHO , USAID, DFID and so forth. He has brought to the fore the issues around social development , gender and public health , as well as evolving roles of technological innovations on development in Africa. He was also the Rapporteur that coordinated the UN MDGs Professional Support Group for Africa, a network of young African professionals supporting and advocating for systems strengthening towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He is the Global Heal Ambassador of International Public Health Forum (IPHF). In 2012 he was appointed the Vice President of the West African Health Informatics Fellowship Programme (WAHIFP www.wahifp.org), Ghana. He currently serves as CEO of SynergyPMP an African -focused knowledge, project and information management consulting outfit working in health and related development sectors. He is on the Faculty of the Supercourse of the WHO Collaborating Center of the University of Pittsburgh, USA and an Adjunct Professor of the PLI Academy of Learning , Nigeria. He is a Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Alumnus and a past CMDS Global Health Scholar . He has qualifications in Medicine, Public Health , Business & Strategic Management as well as Information and Communicatons Technology. He has commendations from no less institutions and personalities like USAID, Pathfinder International, Gate’s Institute, Rt. Hon. Ghali Na’Abba, and so forth.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral and WebmedCentral plus:

Open Access publishing is critical to the growth of research in Low and Medium Income Countries (LMICs), such that WemedCentral and affiliates are veritable platforms to ramp up research , and equally create repository of evolving evidence-based information for practitioners and researchers.
