Biography:

Louxin Zhang studied mathematics at LanzhouUniversity, earning his B.S. and M.S. degrees, and studied computer science at the University of Waterloo, where he received his Ph.D. He has been a researcher and teacher in bioinformatics and computational biology at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since 1996. His current research focuses on bioinformatics in comparative and evolution genomics.  In 1997, he received a Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to further his research. In 2005, he was awarded Overseas Excellent Youth Research Collaboration Fellowship, National Natural Science Foundation Council of China. He has authored and coauthored over 90 scholarly research journal articles and one monograph on sequence comparison (published by Springer). He has served on the editorial board of five international bioinformatics journals and on the program committee of many top international conference and workshops in computer science and bioinformatics. Currently, he is an associate professor of computational biology at NUS.
