Dr Sharad Agrawal is currently working as a Consultant Cardiologist at Sunderland Royal Hospital, Sunderland in the United Kingdom. He completed his MBBS (1984), MD Medicine (1987) and DM Cardiology (1991) all from King George’s Medical College Lucknow with top academic Honours. He secured several GOLD Medals and Certificates of Honour during his Medical Education and Residency Programme. He later worked as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology (adhoc) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi which is a Premier Medical Institute in India. He later moved to the United Kingdom in November 1996 on a prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship in Interventional Cardiology jointly awarded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and the British Council in the United Kingdom and underwent higher specialist training in Interventional Cardiology at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne for over 2 years. He then continued his further higher Specialist Training in the UK in order to complete formal training requirements for specialist Registration (Board Certification in Cardiology) in the United Kingdom. He also passed ECFMG examination and is USMLE certified. Dr Agrawal has been very active in the field of research through-out his medical career and has published a large number of articles in various peer reviewed National and International Journals of repute. He has presented several research papers in International Scientific meetings like American Heart Association as well as TCT meetings in the United States and have contributed several chapters in different Medical books. He has also been regularly involved in formal teaching of medical students, trainee doctors as well as in delivering lectures for senior medical and nursing staff in the UK. He has been invited and delivered Guest Lectures as a Foreign Faculty in various National and International Scientific Congresses. He has been awarded Memberships and Fellowships in a number of Honorary / Professional Societies, including Fellowship of American College of Cardiology (FACC) and Fellowship of Indian College of Cardiology (FICC). He is also a member of British Cardio-vascular Society (BCS), British Society of Cardio-vascular Imaging (BSCI) as well as European Society of Cardiology (ESC). From time to time he has been invited as an expert to give talks on different Health issues on Indian National Television (1996) as well as British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Radio World Service). In his free time he likes travelling, photography, Jazz music and swimming.
